Hello Family -
I've neglected the Family blog for a while (don't look now but I'm not the only one).  Anyway, its fun to see the posts from those of you who have posted...ed. I'd love to hear from the rest of the clan if you get time.  Cody - hows the weddin planning going?

If you recall, from Grams wild and crazy birthday party, several you us took the opportunity to write letters to those who where not able to attend.  I know my absentee kids, all four of them appreciated reading the letters.  I received a very nice letter from Quaid and I wanted to share a few lines from him to you.
"Thank you all so much for sending me letters.  To say they made my day would be an understatement.  They put a smile on my face but at the same time, put a tear in my eye.  I guess I never really knew how much support I had from my family and as I read all the letters your words touched my heart.  Thank You."  He asks that I give everyone his love.  I encourage you to write if you can.  He has lots to say and truly appreciates getting letters.  If you don't already have his address it is:

We are heading to Billings for the long weekend.... doing some building projects on my Father-In-Laws house.  Hoping for good weather over the passes going into Montana.

In other news of the weird and somewhat nerdy.  Over the last few years I've developed an interest in Mycology (fungus.... Mushrooms) and last year I joined a Mycology Society.  Yes, it is just what you might imagine, a room full of nerdy, granola types.  But they are an interesting bunch and I've developed some good friendships.  This past weekend we had our first Foray.  Spring Morel Mushrooms was the goal.  I came home with a small bounty. Not impressive by the pro standards but I was happy with it.

What the heck is Mikala doing?

Since I don't live in Idaho and obviously am not privy to the family doings -- where did Mikala move to and why?  I gather from Shirley's post to go to college. ..

And congrats on graduating :)  we need pics of that event too.

O.K.  I don't recognize this format, so I might be doing something different.  I loved Mikala's video and all the entries.  Did Dennis and Vickie have a good visit with Andrea?  Did they spoil them enough?  If not, Maybe aunt Julie will finish the job for them.  Everyone keep posting.  I love to hear from you.  Love Shirley

My New House!

This is our house! I hope this video works! haha Its kind of small but its pretty nice for a first home. Do all dishwashers sound like a plane coming in for landing? Cause ours does... its pretty loud. hahah Maybe its just because we were all trying to sleep in the living room and the dishwasher was going. We have our washer and dryer hooked up and I got a shower curtain and mat for the bathroom and everything works pretty well!

After we moved everything in and all the parents and siblings left, it was so quiet that we had to put on some music! It was the weirdest thing and it kinda freaked me out. haha I'm pretty scared about moving but I'm excited too. I go back and forth alot. Its just something new and a big change and I've never dealt well with change, but I'm learning to! :) our first meal was little ceasar's pizza.. I think that it is going to be a frequent meal, but thats alright with me because I love it. haha my roommates, Shae and Dakota, were making fun of me because I brought an apron. I thought they were laughing at me because I put it in a dumb place and I said, "Yea yea yea, I just didnt know where else to put it for now!" and Dakota told me (between laughs), "No, I dont think you get it. We're not laughing at where you put it, we're laughing cause you brought an apron at all!!!" We've got all the essentials, its just bringing all the small stuff up thats left :) So if any of you are ever in twin, you're going to have to come visit me, at least for a couple of minutes because the company will be welcome!!! :)

This morning-Wednesday, May 9, I woke at 8:30 to my phone going off.  Dennis said he was going to go to Burley and take Mom out to lunch for Mother"s Day.  We decided that would be a great idea.  So Marty and I took a quick trip to Burley, and  R.J., Clyde, Dennis and Marty and I took Mom to lunch.   It was fun to spend some tome with all involved!  Someone with a fancy phone took pictures of us all, but they will have to post that.  Love to everyone.  Shirley

I am so Proud of Nathan Lindsay

I gave this one more shot, and i'm finally able to post......

I am so Proud of my Son Nathan. Took his isat math test the other day . 210 in considered advanced 250 Genuis. Nathan scored a 249. 
He was so worried about it the night before. Kellen told him to tell poeple he took it easy so he wouldn't look like some kind of a nerd. He was the first one done, and had the highest score in the whole school.
He has scored advance in all the tests so far.

  His last isat test is monday in science, His favorite subject. I am sure he will do great on that test too.

Maddie you look lovely.  Glad you had a good time at Prom.  How did you get your dress and Lisa's shirt to match so perfectly?  I'm excited about Lisa's progress.  Can we call you "Dr" yet?  I'm also happy that Justin has the go ahead to go back to work.  Hope he gets along well.

Maddie's Prom

Maddie went to Prom too!  I did the dress, and Lisa did hair and makeup :)  She went with a group of her friends and a couple of kids from the college drove them, and kinda were chaperones so that all the kids had fun.  Maddie really enjoyed it but she was ready to come home at 10:30!  She is not a party animal :)
Please excuse the mess in the kitchen -- I am in the middle of a re-do, so usually the china hutch is not in middle of the floor.  And we will have cabinet fronts again once I get finished - whew!  It is a lot of work.
Justin is ok'ed to go back to work on the 8th.  He is pretty excited to have a paycheck again.  He bought another vehicle so he is ready to go.  Lisa is almost done with her 3rd year rotations -- and starts her audition rotations in July.  She will know by Christmas where she gets to do her residency.  Krista is busy working and still absolutely loving NYC.  crazy girl!  I am ready for summer to come.  Kev is making me some raised garden beds, we have big landscaping changes coming (once I get the kitchen finished :)), so we will be busy.  My goal after living here 8 years, is to accept that I live here, and am finally making it a cute old house!  Though, I don't think old houses will ever be my thing.  And when I say old -- I mean old!  Our house was originally built in 1905  -- and I don't think they had levels back then.  Can't wait for July -- we will be coming -- (and we might have to have Dennis pick up Krista and bring her to Cody's wedding) -- I think I will fly her into SLC so she can come see the family.

Baby Animal Day

 

Greg & I went up to Baby Animal Day in Wellsville today. I love baby animal day so much! I look forward to it every year! It's the one time of year I can hold a tiny duck, chicken, rabbit & turtle all in one day! So fun!

 

This photo captures the exact moment when this duck realized how high up above the ground he was. The very next second he was quacking and trying to get away from Greg in a hurry! lol. He made it safely back into his little straw pen though. :)

Hope you all are doing well. We Barbers are enjoying the oncoming springtime. Greg starts his first college class on May 7th. He's terrified because he hasn't been in school since high school. I know he'll do great.
We are trying to sell our building lot in West Point so that we can get my student loans all paid off and get into a home. It's been in the ads for 2 weeks now and no one has called... :( But we're still hopeful that it will sell soon.
Anyway, I better go to bed. Its late.

How was the shower? I am so sorry I couldn't make it. I bet it was fun. I keep looking on Facebook at pictures of the beauty!! I would like to help with a crib or something. What did they not get that they need for this little cutie? Not that my contribution will do masses, but every little bit helps-right?

There are so many birthdays this month, so Happy Birthday to all of you. I hope Abby and Megan had good birthdays, and Zachary's is tomorrow and he'll be a teenager. Already? How time flies. Kimberly's is the 15th, Stephanies is the 18th, Clyde's is the 21st, Kristin's is the 30th, and that's not counting the anniversaries and there are several. Baby Shower

Hi family! We are going to be having a baby shower to welcome Dan and Dianna's sweet new baby Daphne to our family. She is such a beautiful, good baby. I just love her to pieces!

The shower is going to be on the 31st of March at my mom and dad's house. It'll be Open House style and the hours are from 11:00 am - 2 pm.

Dan and Dianna will be registering at Wal-mart and Target. I know that they are trying to get a crib, so any donations toward that cause would be greatly appreciated.

I know this is belated but I want to give a few Thank You's for this past weekend. First of all, I had a blast and I'm so thankful for the Blessing of Family.

I know many of you have posted lots of pics on your FB pages but can someone please load some pics on the Blog for us? I'm going to print a bunch off and send with the family letters to the Grandkids that could not make it. I wanted to include a couple pages of pictures with that for those who do not have easy access to computers.

Do we have any plans for a Family Reunion this year? Can we combine something with Cody's wedding? I know Becky was telling me how much she wishes everyone would just pick her to organize the reunion. Out of respect and love for Becky, I say we do it!!!

Open House

TO ALL MY WONDERFUL FAMILY: I thank you all for the wonderful Open House you put on for me. It turned out so great and there were so many people there, besides my own family. I know you worked hard and put out hard earned money on my behalf. I just can't find the words to thank you enough. It was so good to have all my own kids there and many of my sweet grandchildren and great grandchildren. They are all so beautiful and special to me. Also my sons and daughters-in-law. It is always so good to hear from my family. Thank you. I am soooo looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend. I know some of you won't be able to come, but we'll all be thinking of the absent ones. Thanks for the picture of Erika. She is sure growing up, as I'm sure all of them are. I think Shirley and some of the others are working non stop on the weekend activities. It makes me feel guilty because I usually like to get my fingers in the "pie", and nobody will let me. I appreciate everything you are all doing for me. You are all so special to me and I love all one hundred and twenty (?) of you. I think that's a pretty fair estimate. If you don't believe it, count them up.
I hope Justin is doing well. I know he'll be laid up for some time yet, but he'll make it . And I hope Jennifer and Debbie have success with their surgical procedures this week. New Pet

This is Erika's new pet. A leopard gecko! She's so pretty. This is not the best pic but you get the idea... Erika turned 11 yesterday and I can hardly believe she is that old! It goes to show how much I love this girl that I let her get a pet that requires crickets to eat. blah!

Nursing school is going great, though I have NO extra time, whatsoever and I can't wait to see all of you by Skype at Grandma's birthday party!!
